GOOD NEWS |
Our advent traditions represent ancient understandings of God. How might we reinterpret them for a new culture and time? |
Snow blankets the earth before it turns to sleep for the winter. Yet it also prepares the soil for the spring that is to come. |
Jesus came to show us a new way of relationship with God. All those who seek the Savior will see the Christ coming. |
God chose a “virtuous” woman to bring the Christ into the world. How do we birth the Christ into our world every day? |
HUMAN NEED |
So often we tend to do the same things over and over, just because we’ve always done them. How we rejuvenate our Christian traditions so that have meaning for today? |
In the winter there is a feeling of gloom as days shorten and the weather turns colder. How might we embrace the season as an opportunity to flame the fire within our spirit? |
We light the candles of Advent to shine the way. Yet our lights are often extinguished by all the hub-bub of Christmas chaos. How might we remind ourselves of the reason for the season? |
It’s not enough to say we welcome the Messiah, we must bring the Christ to a world that is devoid of hope and presence. How can we all be pregnant with new possibilities? |
No contemporary worship service on December 28th! However, there will be a combined “Lessons and Carols” service @ 10:15am in the Sanctuary!
Join the Cooking Circle!
Pastor Brice & Chris Johnson present the “Milk & Honey Cooking School: Learning the History of God’s People through Cooking & Eating!”
Each month we explore different foods from various biblical periods throughout the Old & New Testament. Some dishes will be prepared and sampled during the study. Two groups currently meet each month. The Joy Circle meets @ 7pm on the first Wednesday of each month, and Circle 2 meets @ 10:30am on the second Wednesday of each month in Oak Creek UCC’s Herbster Room. Check out www.oakcreekucc.net for directions and details!
